Build It Back Green is a global movement in response to the growing impact of natural disasters on communities around the world. In the US it has successfully educated over 22,000 New Orleanians on green building and energy efficiency and has participated in over 200 community events, helping residents learn about reducing their utility bills through energy efficiency. Build it Back Green in Australia is helping Victorian communities recovering from the Black Saturday bushfires to build their homes back in an affordable and sustainable manner.
Green Building
Ensuring that buildings are designed to be sustainable is key for our future. Global Green USA has worked on many green building projects, including the Holy Cross project. The Build it Back Green project was first started in the US, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katerina. Global Green USA developed aprogramme that builds green, affordable housing in New Orleans. As natural disasters become more common and more serious, this project seeks to find ways to rebuild sustainably, and Build it Back Green in Australia was launched following the Black Saturday Bushfires in 2009.
What we do
After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Global Green USA made a dedicated commitment to sustainable building in New Orleans that began with the launch of the Sustainable Design Competition.
