
Green Cross Australia CEO Mara Bun interviewed Global Green USA’s New Orleans Office Director, Beth Galante about the, rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina, the oil spill in the gulf and the sustainable community response that is emerging as a result.

The 3rd Commission of the 64th General Assembly of the United Nations made history today by overwhelmingly adopting the draft resolution proclaiming the Human Right to Safe drinking Water and Sanitation. Presented by Bolivia and 34 other States, the resolution received 122 voted in favour with no votes against and 41 abstentions.
At an event at the High Council for Sport Headquarters on 8 July, GC Spain officially launched the new project “Sustainable Sport Practices for Biodiversity Conservation”. The project seeks to improve sport management in natural areas, specifically in protected areas. In addition, the project aims to create a dynamic tool that can be used by both managers of protected areas and athletes practicing sports outdoors in protected areas. 


Actress Rhona Mitra joined Global Green USA on 11 July to see the impacts of the BP spill. Mitra met with Plaquemines Parrish President Billy Nungesser and discussed the opportunities for embracing a clean energy future for the region before getting on a boat to witness the oil soaked coastline and ongoing cleanup efforts.
